Brendan Sheerin claims the Queen loves watching Coach Trip

It’s received mixed ratings since returning to screens following a two-year hiatus.

Yet Coach Trip has an unlikely fan according to its star Brendan Sheerin – in the form of the Queen.

Sheerin claims the monarch is a huge fan of the E4 game show, so much so that she asks palace aides to record it when she’s travelling so that she never has to miss an episode.

Speaking to the Sun’s Bizarre column, Sheerin revealed: ‘I’ve heard the Queen has it recorded in when she’s away. It makes me so proud as I love the Queen.’

He added: ‘I think she’s an amazing lady, especially all the good things she’s done for this country. She’s phenomenal.’

Sheerin added that Keira Knightley and her husband James Righton are big fans, too.

The reality show has just returned for its latest incarnation, Coach Trip: Road to Zante, after bringing in unexpectedly high viewing figures earlier this year.

In the series, seven young couples are ferried from one holiday resort to the next for 30 days, ending up at a popular holiday destination such as Marbella or Ibiza.

Each day, they decide which of their fellow travellers they like least, and put it to a vote; anyone who loses the vote twice is booted off the bus, with the eventual winners scooping a £1,000 cash prize.

Series 15, which ended in February, received dismal ratings but also saw its first proposal after Bradley and Kevin got engaged during a flying activity – going on to secure a win.

Sheerin gushed: 'I’ve heard the Queen has it recorded in when she’s away. It makes me so proud as I love the Queen. I think she’s an amazing lady, especially all the good things she’s done for this country. She’s phenomenal'
